Fort Dale Academy Deer Hunt
The Fort Dale Academy Deer Hunt (FDADH) is a 501c3 charitable non-profit LLC organized to benefit the students of Fort Dale Academy in Greenville, Alabama. 100% of funds raised go toward college Dual Enrollment classes for Fort Dale Academy (FDA) students at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBW). These classes allow students to earn high school and college credits that are accepted by Alabama's state university system and most others.
Numerated Benefit: A 3 credit hour class at a major Alabama university costs $1400, whereas the same class taken under the Dual Enrollment program at LBW costs $480 - a savings to the family of almost $2,000 per class. Many students will graduate high school with 15 hours of college credit - saving them $10,000.
How We Fund It: Once a year, on the 2nd weekend of January, over 50 hunters descend upon Greenville, AL. Generous land owners in the community open their parcels up to the hunters for the weekend. The parcels consist of farms, hunt clubs, private hunting lands, and other donated land that is managed and planted by our own committee members.
FDADH Structure: The "Deer Hunt", as it's referred to locally, has a standing board whose members are usually parents of students attending FDA. The board members plan and coordinate with multiple land owners and guides, plus an army of other volunteers, and the hunters and other guests to to bring a memorable weekend experience to all involved.
